Feedback gevenThe restaurant is about an hour from my house, and I had an excellent experience there. The food and service were outstanding. The chicken was particularly well-prepared, and the rolls were fresh and delicious.
We had the worst time in the restaurant where we tried 2 hours to suck lunch service and price suck for what we got the old restaurant 2 to 1 better then this 109.00 for what we got and the host would really suck no one would ask to go there and eat now our cabin was good, but this restaurant sucking so that I gave one the man took our order and said the lady who would take care of her later min. We have our food in stages it was bad, but have no way, but on you want a bad restaurant with bad service and food and cost way to much Fall Creek Falls restaurant is your place. And they add a tip for you that really sucks because no one has come to us.
This restaurant previous to the renovation was wonderful. Friends from Chattanooga and Knoxville came to eat the delicious food. Since the renovation, presently, the food is way lacking! There is no option for vegetarian or gluten intolerance diets. Also the food is just poorly prepared. We have gone to the restaurant 2 times and both times were very disappointing. We are all hoping they will make some significant improvements. Spencer is a small town and a decent restaurant could be busy every night. One of the reviews spoke of a salad bar??? That was many years ago. There is no salad bar. The restaurant is also quite small. We don't see how it will manage the number of tourists that come to our park every year.
We have waited patiently for the restaurant to open, like so many of the locals, hoping that we would once again have an option for good food, served in a beautiful location. We have been to the new restaurant on three occasions, the first one being during the soft opening . The food was OK at best, fish tacos were fishy and soggy, the Frito pie was a handful of small Fritos and a glob of what tasted like canned chili. The waitress forgot one of our parties order altogether so we ate dessert, which was canned banana pudding without any hint of real banana pieces, while their meal was being prepared. Disappointing but we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Second trip tried another menu option, the Pasta dish, was average but very oily, Again, lots of bugs to work out. Third visit was for the Valentine 's Day special. $80 per couple, not including drinks or tip. We expected to sit at the restaurant overlooking the lake but instead got herded into a conference room with dimly lit candles and a hushed atmosphere. Server was very inexperienced, the two options were shrimp (which arrived undercooked) and prime rib, which was overcooked and was more like sliced pot roast. The baked potatoes were cold and the salad was bland. Server had never heard of Caesar Dressing. Appetizer was a watery spinach dip that was not as good as what you could buy already made at a local grocer. Dessert was either a slice of sickeningly sweet cheesecake or a chocolate brownie with ice cream. We will not be repeating any special occasion visits again. We will return and continue to bring friends but we hope that given the time and expense in opening the restaurant that they will make an effort to improve not only the food quality, but the service as well.
Once seated, we received our menus, and after about 15 minutes, our drink orders were taken. We also ordered an appetizer at that time. When our server returned with the drinks, we indicated that we were ready to place our orders, which we did. We enjoyed some fried dill pickles, coffee, and water while waiting for our meal. The appetizer was served, and we hoped our main courses would follow soon. However, an hour and a half later, our food finally arrived. One diner ordered chili, but what was served was a thin soup, hardly what anyone would describe as chili. Two of us chose the smashed beef, and thankfully, we received large steak knives; otherwise, cutting it would have been impossible. It was overcooked and dry, as if it had been sitting out for a while. The desserts were good, but unfortunately, I can't say the same about the rest of the meal. While the scenic drive was beautiful, I recall that in previous years, the dining experience was excellent with much friendlier staff. I'm disappointed to give such a negative review, but I can’t justify a better one.
