Stayed one night. Pros: Pretty location. Did not eat in restaurant. Close walk to Carolina Hotel. Cons: Room was very cold /caught a head cold; and cant change temp but 1-2 deg. No vanity for makeup. Bed very springy. Old home and no elevator so plan on hauling bags to rooms all upstairs. No bellboy at front to assist or perhaps busy with restaurant. Active restaurant on all first floor so you will sleep once it closes. For bed and breakfast at a place with a restaurant breakfast was poor. No hot breakfast; just muffins and Keurig. Muffins were good but Keurig not acceptable. Some fruit and yogurt and juice in serve yourself small fridge.
The Inn is historic and charming, situated in the middle of quaint Pinehurst Village. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Our 2 night stay was not nearly long enough to enjoy all the area has to offer!
A friend and I dined here one Wednesday evening in late May. The inn is beautiful and we had heard great things about the food. Having read about the pasta being made fresh on-site, I ordered the ravioli. My friend ordered fish. We each had a glass of wine and shared a roasted beet salad. The bread was delicious and I especially enjoyed the salad. We were shocked, however, by the entrees. Two large, 4-5 raviolis, priced at $36. One very small portion of fish, also priced at $36. Total cost was approximately $135.
Our first experience with staying at this Inn and eating at the Vilaggio Restaurant both evenings we were there was phenomenal. You can tell the management and owners are attentive to detail as their staff was there in greeting us and opening the door when we checked into our room. Of course this is a self service check in but since we were arriving later in the day, they made sure we were welcomed as they were also just beginning their dinner service. After checking in and settling in our room we went to dine in the Villagio that features northern Italian inspired dishes. The waitress quickly seated us and gave us the featured specials of the day. We had the Rosette al Forno antipasti, which we would recommend highly to start. The roasted beet salad was split between my wife and myself and was certainly one that we truly enjoyed... a great choice even if you're are not a fan of beets. The beets along with the pecans are sweet enough to balance out the vinaigrette and the Gorgonzola cheese. I chose the Frutti de Mare and was not disappointed. It was seasoned just right to enhance the flavors of the seafood clams, mussels, calamari and shrimp and the linguini was cooked al dente. My wife had the braised short rib with risotto and it too was delicious. For the finishing touch we had the Panna Cotta and the Mousse al Cioccolato... both nicely done and not too sweet. All in all a perfect evening after a long trip! The staff will take care of you. We even noticed an elderly couple who appeared to have been celebrating an anniversary and the wait staff helped and assisted them with the flowers that were delivered to the restaurant ahead of time and brought the arrangement to their car. It's the small things that count!
