Our google map GPS referred us to Al Gusto Giusti a few blocks away from our location. What luck!!! Here was a smorgasbord of culinary delights. You just had to choose whatever you wanted and you had a plateful of the most delicious offerings. To give a few examples... the most divine lasagne of tender noodles, pesto and bechamel, zucchini flan, assorted cooked peppers and olives, crispy meatballs... Absolutely everything looked succulent and fresh. The owner explained everything to us. He was most gracious and took the time to talk to us about his shop. Foods are for takeout as well as there are only a few charming tables. For sale too are wonderful desserts, fine wines, coffee, etc. We promised to return and are still dreaming about all the delights... a foodies haven!!
My husband absolutely loved their lasagna, that was his favourite in the whole trip staying in Italy. Also the hostess are nice and servicial people.
Having been to Al Gusto Giusto before on a subsequent trip, I had vowed to return. My husband and I rented a villa near Cortona for a few weeks and wanted to pick up some prepared food to take with us. Samuele is the pastry chef and his lovely wife, the cook. We bought the meatballs, potato casserole, pecorino, cheesecake, crostata, to name a few. We also got some info on wine as well as gourmet products. The owners remembered us which was so incredible and made us feel like locals!!! The nicest people making the most divine food. Stop for lunch or takeout and you will be sure to return! P.S. By the way, we thoroughly enjoyed everything we bought!!
I visited Pistoia and had the opportunity to meet Sam and Lisa with their cooking inventions. Excellent food and original recipes.Bob
