Common Place Coffee Shop - Pittsburgh

Coffee was fine, but not worth the prices they charge. I've had plenty of 12 ounce bags in Denver and Salt Lake that blow these out of the water for a few bucks less per bag, and I've established a palate tough to satisfy, I guess. I gather that other people adore this roaster, though, and the physical spot was really great.

I had an iced vanilla latte. Too much flavoring and milk for me. But the real issue is all the coffee grounds in the bottom of my coffee. I have never had this happen at any other coffee shop before.

It seems like a popular place with a chill vibe, but I did not get good service today at all. Perhaps it was an off day, but I was tempted to take my dollar back out of the tip jar. They were aloof, short with me, unhelpful and didn't give me what I asked for. All with the clichéd coffeeshop hipster tone. Again, perhaps this was a bad day, but if you can't get room for cream right, I'm disappointed. Also, lots of places leave their dairy and/or soy, oat options out in a thermal container. Why make this harder than it has to be?

Wonderful atmosphere and coffee, but please do not ask questions of the cashier. I asked what’s in the breakfast burrito and got, “sigh” then a pointing to menu on counter. Asked for a breakfast sandwich without the “mayo”, and was told, “we cannot do that”. Decided on a plain croissant and to please warm it. I was told “we cannot do that”. Before i ordered a latte, I asked “Are there restrictions before I order a latte?” The cashier said, “that depends on you.”. LOL She then had the audacity to ask me to answer the tip question! Normally, I tip no matter what , but not today. I “cannot do that.” Customer service counts.

One of my favorite coffee shops in Pittsburgh! I came here multiple times a week to work and study or talk with my partner. On nice days you can sit outside and relax at their tables on Forbes Ave which is beautiful especially in the mornings I'd recommend trying their seasonal lattes like the maple and ginger latte. They also make good tea! I paid $6 for their seasonal latte but you can get regular coffee for less. Peaceful ambience with calm music, but sometimes rock/punk music light in the background. There is great natural light from the windows and lots of plants and locally made art. You can also buy coffee beans here as well as art and merch (nice t-shirts). AND they have gluten free pastries!
