Custard's First Stand - Pittsburgh

This is a fantastic classic ice cream shop, offering better prices and a wider selection than other places in the area. We love visiting with our family!

A beloved summer destination for a sweet treat! Custard's weekly rotating soft serve flavor always piques my curiosity and keeps me coming back for more. This week, the flavors were blackberry and pistachio, available either separately or swirled together. I opted for the blackberry dipped in chocolate. While the flavor was a tad sweet for my taste, I’m glad I gave it a try. Their traditional twist is always my go-to, and they offer a wide variety of other ice cream options, including hard ice cream, sundaes, and their take on a Blizzard. Service can be a bit slow depending on the crowd, but on a lovely evening, it’s enjoyable to be outside chatting with friends while waiting! The seating area provides a great spot with plenty of tables to savor your ice cream.

The vanilla cream was incredibly creamy! This charming young man, Ben Monti, served us some truly delightful food. We connected on a personal level right away; it just felt like it was meant to be. I genuinely believe he deserves a raise for his exceptional service. However, I was disappointed when he asked me to step aside for the next customer. So, I’m giving it 1 star, but honestly, he really deserves a raise!
