I've been coming here for over 15 years, and the food is both delicious and affordable. They've even lowered their prices! You can get incredible falafel for just $5 - you really can't beat that!
I absolutely love this restaurant! I typically order the falafel sandwich and baba ghanoush. I also enjoy the lentils and rice bowl with fried eggplant, as well as the fattoush salad. It's really peaceful here during lunch and early dinner hours. There's public parking available less than a block away, as long as you can find a spot.
Maybe they had an off-day, but I didn't like the service and eating. I ordered hummus, falafel and a fat salate. the hummus was clumpy--not smooth, the falafel was burned on the outside and underboiled on the inside, and the fattoush salat had not deep-fried Pita chips, nor had it any suac or za’atar. if you are interested in food in the near east, go to the Mediterranean grill or ali baba’s.
I dined at Kassab for dinner and had a mixed experience. The young server mentioned that everything marked in green on the menu was vegan, but I found that information to be inaccurate. I ordered the spicy hummus, falafel wrap, and French fries. Overall, the meal was quite mediocre. The pita was dry and lacking in flavor, and the hummus didn’t have the sharpness I was expecting. My dining companion had previously warned me that Kassab can be hit or miss, leaning more towards the former. I wouldn’t label my experience as a miss, but I certainly wouldn’t consider it a hit either.
