Rock 'n ' Joe Coffee (penn Ave)

I'm in Pittsburgh for work this week, and Rock 'n' Joe's was the fourth local coffee shop I tried. It was also the only place where I found really good coffee! They have unique syrups and a fantastic atmosphere. I definitely plan to return before I head home.

The drinks were quite good, with a wide selection available, including options beyond coffee. The scone and sandwich were delicious, and they kindly offered to warm them up for me. The service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was pleasant. I purchased some coffee beans, but unfortunately, they lacked flavor and the roast date was from two months ago.

Average café experience. Their smoothies are more like slushies—they use sugar syrup instead of real fruit! When we requested a smoothie made with actual fruit instead of sugar, the staff member simply said, "This is how we do it here." The food seemed to be prepared a day in advance; the bagels were stale and chewy. There are plenty of better cafés just around the corner.

Finally- Someone knows how to make a cortado!! I was excited when I saw the cortado was in a tiny cup, so I knew it was correct. It was nice and strong. The woman working behind the bar was new and she did a great job!!

We really enjoyed this coffee shop! Our iced lattes were delicious the team members were super friendly and kind even when some customers were making their jobs difficult. Even better, they spotted my partner and dog outside on the patio and offered a pup cup.
