We found this new place when we came back this year to playa. first it was great. eating is very good. the wee are also good, although they do not have alwasy a great choice. the margaritas (especially the golden ones with gm) are...excellent they had 2 great employees there (eddie und frankie). then they were gone and were replaced by others. the last two times we were there, let us want more. although eating is still very good (they make one of the best pizzas around,) the service took a nasty dive big time. one night they suggested a bottle of wine that turned out to be not as good and when the bill came, we were shocked. we would've asked the cost before the funeral. unfortunately we will not be back.
Here for a drink and appetizer. what a waste of time and money. chips were stale, gave a micro amount of chips. presentation on the teller was great, but eat only thoroughly. drinks were terrible, no alcohol tasted. avoid them at all costs!
We live in the city and have probably ordered 7 times by cariló, maybe more. the pizza tastes great. it has thin crust, crispy from the many, good taste. finally! we found a stacking place to order pizza. Now, this love affair is all gone...now here's what happened, the last three times we ordered from them: 1. Once they were completely out of the way. they said it was 30 minutes, and we waited for an hour and there was no one yet. we ordered from somewhere else. that alone wouldn't be enough to get angry. it happens, even if the pizza on her menu is the kind of dinge that she can keep much on being. 2. the next time we ordered, there was an actual footprint/shock mark on the inside of the box. A footprint! So, one of the workers had crashed on the box and sent it to us. Maybe it was on the floor in the storage room (I hope not,) or someone had to step on to get to a higher regal, but whatever the case was a footprint of a pizza. Great. at the same time we got a pizza with a footprint in the box, the margarita pizza also lacked any trace of basilikum. so they know not a big thing, only the main ingredient distinguishes a simple cheese piece brot and a margarita style pizza. 3. this was the third and most recent attempt. also our last. the photos are attached to this contribution, and just like eating before a week came to our house. Apparently they were from pizzeria boxes this time, so they sent our two pizzas between four polystyrene containers, split up, scattered and stacked on top of each other. it's crazy to me that they would allow the personal to send so pizza. the pieces among others had lost their beats on the bottom of the upper discs and each piece was on one or the other, squeezed/cracked with another. I have made photos without touching or changing them. the worst is a disc that was buried alive among the others on the Hawaiian piece. God rests his soul. I'm sorry, it was a good thing, but you're dead for me, and, as they can see, it takes 3 strikes for me to say that something drastically. especially when they murder our pizza and send us like their own, wrapped luca brasi botschaft. our patronage to cariló sleeps with the fish.
We kept saying we were going to try this place since it was close to our condo but did not end up getting there till our last evening! Too bad 'cause we would have gone back more than once. Our son is a chef and...he was very impressed. In his words On Point for choices, preparation, presentation and flavour. We all liked the menu as all found several choices appealing and all ended up tasting and liking each others ' as well as our own. It was also VERY reasonably priced for such quality food, lovely atmosphere with great music and very attentive waiter. It was also one of the cleanest places we went to in Playa del Carmen. We had four appetizers; prawns crab balls empanadas mussels they were all excellent! mains; shredded pork and pickled red onion pizza(leftovers for 2 breakfasts) salmon on a bed of asparagus risotto(prepared on order) mahi mahi with gnocchi(this IS a meatier fish by nature and the gnocchi were so tender) four cheese ravioli(OMG so rich and delicious) OH and the bread with the most excellent Chimichurri! plus beers, sodas and coffee for about $25 each. Don 't think we 'll ever stay in Playa del Carmen again but we would stop by to eat at Carilo if were passing through for sure.
