El Puerto Fairmont - Playa del Carmen

When I looked at the menu on open table before making this booking it had Asian dishes on there..On arriving we were given a steak menu ! The restaurant had changed several months before the menu was not an updated one.. I am vegetarian so did not enjoy my experience.. I was expecting an intimate meal in an a la carte restaurant this was not the case.. The restaurant was full of very loud young students or young people from a work conference so was very noisy we felt quite out of place… Not what I expected at all from a dinner reservation at a Fairmont Hotel….

Tauro has recently changed their menu to being a steakhouse and not Asian inspired restaurant. I wish this change would have been indicated on opentable. That being said, we really enjoyed our meal there. It was a good classic steak house experience. Nothing particularly stand out, except maybe their salt collection and also the truffle potato wedges were great!

Everything was fantastic, the ambiance, the hospitality, the drinks! Best food we ate while staying at Mayakoba. I am a vegetarian and usually feel like I’m missing out on good food as most restaurants throw together some oily vegetables. Not Tauro, my appetizer, entree, and drinks were amazing. My boyfriend and I have traveled all over the world (me living in NYC for a decade) and this was the best steak he has ever eaten. Will definitely come back! Patio was gorgeous
