I've been visiting this restaurant with friends for over 3 years. It is my local “go” because it is consistently excellent. The servers, bar and kitchen staff are very well trained and clearly shows up in the course of this company. I...love that I'm always greeted with a familiar smile as if I'm a friend and it makes me feel special. The food is excellent, beautifully presented and served on time. I can't say good enough about this restaurant. Well done Perche No.
My wife and I were here to celebrate the youngest performance of our son, and we were not told about the outside what is a very reasonable rule for a restaurant. When I asked if you could make an exception, I was drunk to be disrespectful in a hard tone of voice and aggressive body language and in front of the children who are only inappropriate. A courtesy would not have been more than enough. I'd rather give my money to the nicer people. Paid my bill, had a tip on the waitress (it is not her fault and took the food into the park. At least my son is happy:
This was one of the worst meals we have had in a long long time and as we travel and eat out a lot, it is quite an achievement. The bread stale and old. The wine the cheapest trash sold at a massive...markup. The tuna carpaccio no idea what happened to the poor tuna but tasted like flour. Served with chewy raisins. The pizza bad, bad pepperoni. Burnt totally black at the bottom. The steak it looked like something from a horror movie. Totally inedible. Old, dried vegetables and potatoes.
Perche No, No, No! One of our obligatory duties as expats living down here in paradise is to properly host all our friends and family as they drop in every now and then. When you first make home here, they come down in a heavy...steady stream. Seems like every weekend is a party rock/the all nighter with assorted friends, kids, brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles and other precious relatives. I try to indulge whatever wish, whim and debauchery they request, but always try my best to steer them to the better dinning experiences we’ve discovered in PDC. I will now confidently state rule NUMBER ONE- never take them to a place you don’t know. I veered off course last night and made that ill-fated decision to take my bawdy yet quite prudish wife’s smart and cool cousin and her laid back and clever hubby to a place we’d heard of but never tried. Bad idea. Off 307 S. near GNC 1286 and next to the pet food store in a strip mall, there’s Perche, No. And I cannot emphasize the no enough. What a disaster. After hearing some generally positive comments regarding same, we took a chance. First, it has nothing to do with PDC, MX. As I mentioned, its in a strip mall that reminds you of Anytown USA on a bad meth day. Depressing even before you even enter the place and see their boring, sterile interior design. Who designed this layout, Papa John’s niece? After we surveyed their simple and quite forgettable menu, we started with a relatively simple order of carpaccio of salmon. Mistake. Our uninterested waiter delivered a good-looking plate. But, upon further tasting it appears as if they just took the uneaten salmon from last night and sliced it very thin and threw it on a plate of greens, cherry tomatoes and doused it with some vinaigrette. Awful. A cheap all-inclusive dish at best. That was a precursor of things to come. The cousin’s hubby’s pasta carbonaro was sub-olive garden in taste and freshness. As was the cool cousin’s ravioli braccio di ferro of which I had a taste. Soupy, mushy and just plain dull. I honestly felt bad for these trusting visitors. My cheeky yet sometimes scheming wife and I decided to share half carne and half veggie pizza which arrived ultra-soggy and nothing liked we ordered. Worst was the uncooked pink Italian sausage balls setting on top on the entire pie. Poor performance by staff, cook and crew in a restaurant barely half full. With the sole exception a surprisingly delicious Caesar salad, the rest of the dinner was just plain disappointing especially given all the great Italian restaurants choices in PDC. Worst of all, our visitors demanded to pick up the tab which included an extra charge for the raw Italian sausage. My disappointment dropped to a whole new level. Definitely not my style. Pro tip- try out new venues with local friends. Our guests leave on Sunday and I hope we can redeem ourselves. Perche, No. Absolutely no, no, no. And happy birthday Rick.
