The coffee let the meal down a little: a little luke warm, and not quite strong enough for the 'double shots' we ordered, but it was still pretty good overall. We sat outdoors, with welcome relief from the December sun provided by large umbrellas. Unfortunately the inside did smell faintly of cleaning products / disinfectant, but they had just opened up for the day to be fair.If you want more than a fast food joint, and don't want to pay the boutique eatery prices so common in Pokolbin, then the Wine Country Cafe is a good compromise: particularly for those of us travelling with families.
We dropped in here for a quick lunch recently. We had tasty food served by friendly staff. The cafe was clean and well run. Recommended.
Great spot to stop as it's attached to the Tourism office. Collect your information and plan your day over coffee and a bite before you head off exploring the vineyards.
Good no nonsense cafe conveniently at the visitor information centre. Very handy stop for coffee and cake to plan your wineries trip.
My partner and I were staying out in lovedale for our honeymoon. We planned to go to one of the wineries (gartelmen) for breakfast but discovered it was closed in planning for the lovedale long lunch. We were then disheartened to find most of the wineries closed for breakfast as it was only Thursday. (Alot of the wineries are only open for lunch and dinner and those who do offer breakfast only do so friday to Sunday).Cranky, tired and hungry we resorted to going to the Cafe we knew would be open - the wine country cafe at the information centre. It didn't look much from the outside and certainly didn't create the ambiance suited to newly weds.... BUT..... We were searching for a decent place for a good breakfast and we found it!No fancy names, condiments or marketing techniques, just good food cooked properly! We both had a big breakfast which consisted of 4 rashers of bacon, 2 fried eggs with delicious gooey yolks, 2 amazing sweet tomatoes, baked beans (I swapped my beans for avocado, at no extra charge Thankyou very much), 1 hashbrown and 2 slices of thick toast (which we were told we could have more if we wanted).Every single item was cooked to perfection, no seasoning or sauce needed! It was cooked fast too! Admittedly we were the only ones there as we arrived right on opening time, but it was still fast! The service was also efficient and friendly. We left feeling so satisfied, I would make a bee-line for this place the next time I was in the valley at breakfast time.
