Trattoria La Botte - POLIGNANO A MARE

I just don't get some of these reviews, we had an absolutely fantastic lunch (seafood pasta) and the service was great. after a month of fine eating in italia, this was actually up there, at least for lunch. easy, but great.

Bad eating if not bad eating we try in puglia very close, service correct and location good.

I'm so confused by the other reviews. After travelling Italy for last 2 weeks and finding a lot of average to good restaurants, I can honestly say this was a little hidden gem and I loved it. If you're expecting italian restaurants to hand make...all their pasta and make their own meats and cheese from scratch they don't. Most places will handmake 1 or 2 pastas and it'll emphasise on the menu that it's their HANDMADE pasta. We came here for lunch and I would highly recommend. Little terrace balcony away from the hustle and bustle. Started with a great caprese salad. We then got the octopus and a seafood pasta. Both were fantastic!! Fresh and tasty seafood. Reasonable prices. I thought it was great

But unfortunately I cannot avoid it with la botte. how difficult it must be to pamper a carbonara with a type of sink from the next discounter completely, just to have an alibi, something similar. imagine they decide to try. the typical parmigiana at this place and they meet some tasteless, repeatedly heated meatballs in a tomato sauce from a dose (in the middle of the topshit tomato season! and the carbonara di mare. Luckily, I lack enough English skills to describe this. it is almost impossible to have a bad meal in southern Italy otherwise, but la offered seems to survive on the baptism of desperate tourist who think in polignano that it is almost impossible to have a bad meal in S.Italy!

Our experience was good, the waitress was friendly, explained the dishes in English, and made us feel welcome. The owner was jovial and looked after us and others there well. We had fish dishes which were well cooked, the side of roast vegetables was a...bit disappointing, but everything else was first class. The setting is nice, quiet but in the middle of the old town.
