We calle din Pont L'Abbe on the way to our gite in Plomeur lookign for somewhere to eat and cme across this great restauraunt which is at the back of the hotel. We actually ate in the garden outside. We were a group of 5 - four of us went for the three course menu - the fish was hake and cooked to perfection with lovely presentation and pureed veg and potatoes. the faux fillet was also good. The restaurant is a little different but well worth the money we paid for our meal.
Hopped in because the restaurant is recommended by 'Guide de Routard'; the restaurant is located in the back of the building and it looks a bit outdated but also cosy in a way. The service is perfect and the dishes are just great; we had the 4 courses menu for only 36,5€ pp which is very affordable when you take the good quality and quantity into account. We had a perfect evening and we absolutely recommend this restaurant!
Actually this is a restaurant review, not a hotel review. I had lunch there with friends today, and it was such a surprise I couldn't help returning to see how dinner was. Who woulda thought it? A great hotel-restaurant right on the Place de Republique in this small town. The phone is 02 98 87 17 22. It's great ambience at a slow pace in a beautiful old hotel dining room with good food as well. There are 3-4 selections for each element of the 24.50 euro menu, so you can have it multiple times without repeating yourself. I much preferred the duck foie gras and magret du canard to the ocean-going option. Great wine list. My dinner (including aperitif, menu, wine, poire brandy and coffee over about two hours) was 48 euro. The best thing is, they are not in a hurry for you to leave, even if you're the last one in the dining room and it's been 2-1/2 hours. Hard to find anymore. BTW, now I know what Pain Perdu really is about, contrary to my earlier guess in another recent review. Our friend Dominique explained that the basic version is just French Toast, what you would do with the "lost" or otherwise "wasted" bread which had gotten a little tough or dry with age instead of throwing it out.
Had a fab meal at this resturant last night........in the courtyard as the sun was shining Good choice on the wine menu. The three course meal was great, me having fish of the day and my husband having a fillet mingnon which was a large piece of meat, cooked to perfection. The meal costing about £19.00 each.....Service was friendly from the staff....not stayed at the hotel as we were booked in else where. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed !!
