Calm Waters Cafe - Port Alice

Prepared by friendly local ladies, casual atmosphere, glad we drove from Port Hardy to experience it!

A great place to know about when in the area. With a great view of the Ocean thanks to the wall of big windows, its a marvelous place to enjoy fresh home cooked food.

We visited the Port Alice Visitor Center and learned that the area is mostly known for fishing, wild-life viewing, hiking and access to west coast beaches. There is also a 9-hole golf course just outside of town and a 3K Sea Walk that takes you to a very scenic island that you can walk out to at low tide. We asked if there was somewhere to get a coffee and we were referred to this Cafe at the Legion just off the main street. The ladies of Port Alice operate the cafe between 8:00-11 AM and offer home made baked goods, muffins and pies, breakfast sandwiches, bagels etc. as well as coffee and tea. We found them to be very friendly, the legion hall very welcoming, tables dressed with tablecloths and flowers and a beautiful view across Neroutsos Inlet. You can take-out but stay, use the china and enjoy the old fashioned hospitality.

The ladies of Port Alice have opened a cafe in the local Legion located on the main street as you enter town. Only open from 8:30 - 11:30 AM but the cafe offers fresh baked muffins and pie with ice cream, made-to-order sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, french toast, bagels, cereal, yogurt and fresh fruit. Take out is available but sit in, chat with the ladies and enjoy the view of the inlet and mountains. It was like entering the home of friends and sitting down with a good cup of coffee and fresh baked goods to catch up on events. So glad we stopped.

The quiet Water Café, only open during weekends, serves amazing breakfast options and delicious meals. It is run by a dedicated group of locals who put their heart and soul into the restaurant. Don't miss the opportunity to visit! They offer Eggs Benedict, breakfast sandwiches, and more. And the stunning views of the sea and mountains are an added bonus.
