We were here on Wednesday night. The food was good by pub standards, the service excellent, and the staff friendly and helpful. (We had experienced some problems with our accommodation and the bartender/waxsin helped us find a new place to stay. There is a beautiful view of the water.
We met friends from the lower end of Graham Island, we traveled from Masett and had said that the food was good. A fairly busy bar, a server that does its best to make bartender, to take food orders, to supply meals when they were willing to run the place alone, apart from kitchen staff. I wanted the fish and chips to just say they had no fish. I found this interesting, Haida Gwaaii and no fish. Later I was told that all restaurants can buy the fish from one hand, I don't know how reliable this information is. When the food arrived, the onion rings went back, so overcooked that the onions had been fried from existence, the pumices were also handed over. I'm not sure if this was the case because they were little busy or what. Very nice location. Would there probably be a second chance
During my visit for lunch, the atmosphere was quiet, allowing for quick service. I started with buffalo wings, which were perfectly sauced, and then enjoyed the fish and chips, which were a pleasant surprise. The fish was perfectly cooked and not greasy, unlike what I had expected from pub food. It easily ranks in my top 5 for fish and chips. Overall, I felt comfortable and welcomed at Yakoun River Inn, unlike another restaurant I had recently visited. If you find yourself in Port Clements, do yourself a favor and stop by this local gem for fantastic food, friendly service, and beautiful views of Masset Inlet. FOOD: 4/5 SERVICE: 3.5/5 VALUE: 4/5 RECOMMENDATION: Thumbs up! The best food in Port Clements.
Given the limited choices in Port Clements, you'll probably end up at the Yakoun River Inn. You'll get a good meal as long as your expectations are kept in check. This is a typical small town pub. Pool tables, keno on the tv, plenty of loggers. The food is pub-style. Lots of grease, but that's what pub food is all about. For beverages you're best to stick to Molson Canadian or Labatt's Blue. Forget your fancy city microbrews.
