I cannot believe it, I went back, seduced once again by the location. Ordered the same Moules Normandie with the dollop of salty thick creamy sauce sitting on top of the shells. The restaurant is named after the 47 Royal Marines who liberated Port en Bessin on June 6th 1944 . Its now the chef who needs liberating!!
I'm french but I do believe this review will help more in english than french. I've been last week end on Friday night to this restaurant. I've seen the waiter coming to the terrasse with dishes in his hands. One of the dish was a cordon bleu with french fries. As the waiter was on the rush, he was walking fast to bring the food to the terrasse people. The cordon bleu went down to the floor in front of the neighbor table. The waiter took it back to the plate and served it to the kids. Just saying it doesn't matter much! Their parents didn't contest of even refused the dish. I was really sorry to see this and feel very bad to be french and assist to such miserable quality service. For sure I will never return. Shame on those people who are pretending to be in restaurant business. Please do apologize my dear foreign. Friends. This is not representing our country. But don't go there as well.
Arrived in Port en Bessin and walked around for an evening meal. I noticed the restaurant was named after 47 Commando Royal Marines and as I served in the Royal Marines, decided to go in. The service was poor and cold , the food was also poor. My wife ordered Cod and chips. The cod looked like it had come out of a Tesco basic meal for one packet and a few french fries. A few bits of salad leafs. I ordered the Lamb shank which was cold, and this cost us €17 each. rip off.
Reasonably priced set 2 course menu at €17:50 had plenty of choice. We ordered salmon and chicken which arrived in double quick time. The place was crowded with people dodging the rain storm but service remained quick & friendly. We are here 2 nights and will probably return tomorrow.
