We arrived midday Sunday and the local pub weren't doing meals, however they were helpful and pointed us to the Orange Van which is next to the pier. A nice place to stop for a true country feel
Worth a visit if you are stopping at port germein. It is a little way off the main road but whilst there , great place for pub type meals.
We decided to try the Old Pier Hotel in Port Germein recently. It was a Sunday night when we decided to go there for dinner. It happened to be either schnitzels or fish and chips night so we chose schnitzels. We both had chicken schnitzels with gravy. I had pepper gravy and my partner had Dianne gravy. Unfortunately the gravy was luke warm and the pepper gravy lacked the pepper zing it should have had. The vegetables were just above cold and tasteless. I think to be fair we would need to return on a night when their main menu is available.
This place shows the owners have some businesses smarts. Port Germain is a tiny town, business would be slow in the off season but the cafe is tastefully decorated in an old-world/arty way. They offer a nice range of tasty cafe meals, coffee and a great range of yummy local Golden North icecreams, my favourite being the licorice flavour. To the right of the dining area is a classy boutique second hand clothes store where you may lose your wife and your life's savings!
