U Cafe - Port Hardy

We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant run by a lovely and giving couple. Despite arriving in Port Hardy close to closing time, they kindly kept the doors open for us, accommodating us inside the mall and serving us delicious food. We were beyond satisfied with our meal and service. We highly recommend that more people have the opportunity to try the amazing cuisine prepared by this wonderful couple.

The owners of this restaurant are friendly and work in a small kitchen, creating incredibly tasty dishes. I have enjoyed everything I've tried so far, especially the homemade noodles, pork or red bean steamed buns, sweet and sour pork, and dumplings. I still have more to try, but I am working my way through the menu!

During these times of COVID, we ordered takeout from U Cafe and it was hands down the best food we've had in Port Hardy so far. I highly recommend it!

As in the title, its an odd and small spot for a cafe, especially with a menu the size that it is, but great food and decent pricing. Cash only, so make sure you bring change!

With an unassuming corner kiosk in the Thunderbird Mall, the U Café doesn't look like much, but Linda and her husband bring some of the best Asian food on the North Island, and definitely the best Chinese. They offer limited delivery hours after their normal business hours. Fans of western style Chinese food may see a couple of minor differences in their chosen dishes, but I've yet to try an item I didn't like. Call ahead to place your order if you don't want to hang around while your food is made. Note, U Café is cash only.
