Hot Wok Chinese Resturant

Very friendly service. Food was cooked fresh and would definitely recommend Honey Chicken and Vegetable Fried Rice. Restaurant was very clean.

If you enjoy dining in restaurants that are run-down and unkempt, then this place may be suitable for you. Upon entering, we were greeted with a lackluster welcome and no signs of hospitality. The staff seemed disinterested and the atmosphere was not inviting. The tables were dusty and the menus were worn out and barely held together. Despite our concerns about the appearance of the restaurant, we decided to give it a try. While the food was not outstanding, there were few complaints other than slow service. We chose to dine at this restaurant for a special occasion, remembering our grandparents who used to frequent Hot Wok in Port Macquarie.

I went to Hot Wok Port Macquarie and ordered the Mongolian lamb and satay chicken. Despite requesting no onion in my Mongolian lamb due to my son's allergy, the dish was filled with onion when I received it. The containers were also half-filled and the food was overpriced. When I called to complain, the woman argued with me and was extremely rude. She refused to give a refund and only offered me $2 back. The food was unappetizing and I will never return to this restaurant. I have also warned others about my experience and as a result, they lost a party booking for a 50th birthday dinner. I do not recommend this place at all and suggest checking out other Chinese or Thai restaurants in the area instead.

You pull up an online menu, note the costs of each dish, choose your food, order by phone (with the notoriously rude order taker) , and wait the stated 20 minutes before picking up the takeaway order. What??? The cost is 33% higher than the online menu price!!! When questioned the (notoriously rude) order taker says the online menu is 'out of date ' and hasn 't been updated for at least six months (so the prices have risen 33% in six months). Am I smelling a scam or am I just over cynical? Food was not that great, but I am just kicking myself for paying the inflated price, rather than just leaving the food with them and going elsewhere. Never again.

The restaurant had a very worn-out and tired appearance both outside and inside. There was a lack of greeting upon arrival, and the furniture was old and in need of replacement. The menus were taped together, and the service was lacking in friendliness. The meals were average, but the older waitstaff were rude and noisy. Overall, there was nothing positive about this place, and I will not be returning.
