Barretts Smokehouse - Portage

I was looking forward to trying Barrett's, but unfortunately, I was disappointed. I ordered the brisket sandwich, which came with just three pieces of brisket on a bun. While it was tasty, it felt more like an appetizer than a full meal. The prices are also quite high.

We decided to use Barrett's for my father's celebration of life event, and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. From the initial phone call through to the pickup, the staff was a pleasure to work with. The two employees who helped load our vehicle at pickup were fantastic and ensured everything was secured for transport. The pulled pork and chicken were delicious, and the potato salad and macaroni salad received rave reviews from everyone at the party. I highly recommend Barrett's to anyone seeking exceptional catering services. They also offer a great selection of food in-store and have a café. Our experience was nothing short of excellent. I really enjoy coming to this restaurant; they have a wide variety of options and great prices. The only thing I might suggest changing is the chicken pot pie recipe. The vegetables are a bit undercooked, it's lacking in seasoning, and there isn’t much liquid. However, overall, I love visiting this place every week for my meats!

Made a Texan feel at home. Friendly staff. Why they close so early IDK. Had the sliced brisket sandwich and pulled pork smoked-Mac'n cheese. Very solid BBQ. The sauce was confusing to be honest, three different types all too strange to me, I'm sure other people like it (my wife did). First visit was impressive, going to have to go back and try more options. No hot-links though? This isn't just a restaurant either. They have a small grocery store and deli. Definitely worth checking out.

Excellent place to pick up a BBQ, take out our dine in. Butcher shop and lovely store with meats, prepared food, snacks, beer, jerky, spices you make it they probably sell it. We looked all around the store section and was amazed at the unique selection. Then we ate sandwiches. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We'll stop in for sure next time we're near.
