Googled this place searching for a spot to grab a quick bite before leaving Wilmington nc to head back to Chattanooga. Was ever so shocked to be served up the best cheese grits other than mine! And the pastries were French, flaky, and baked with lots of love. Quality deserts indeed. Do not sleep on this place nestled in a busy part of town in the tuck. The Family-friendly, spacious, and warm atmosphere is sure to bring you back. And GREAT coffee! I brought back with me 2 decadent warm, fresh baked cream filled chocolate covered croissants, thinking that I would have them in the morning....They didn't make it SC. I'm looking forward to seeing these guys again. This was much more than I expected. Stay great, my kings, I'll see you soon
I'm a self proclaim donut connoisseur and this place has made me consider switching to croissants! Delicious, fresh, puffy, well-layered, flaky and semi-crumbly and baked to perfection. This place is a MUST TRY. Travelled from Charlotte just to try some of their delicatessen. To those complaining about the size or price, go back to MacDonalds. The place is fair.
I just wandered in with my husband one day, he's a chef and very critical. We both fell in love with the breakfast grit bowl and the croissants. We had 2 smoothies that were fresh,2 grit bowls with bacon, egg and cheese and a croissant for less than 20$.And it wasn't fast food it was AWESOME!! I have been to Sweet D's three times now for morning sweets, and it has been very hit or miss. On my first visit, I got a cronut and some donuts, and everything was great. The cronut was amazing! On my last two visits, they didn't have cronuts either time, and the donuts I got were obviously at least a day old. Very disappointing. I paid $12 for four stale donuts in my last visit (August 2023).I will not be back! Day-old bakery goods should be identified as such and either discounted or thrown away, not sold at full price. Also, $3 for ONE donut? It seems like their filled croissants are more their specialty, but I can't comment on them because I haven't tried them. Those are priced at a more reasonable $1.89.Sorry, Sweet D's. I gave you a second chance after my second visit was a disappointment, but my third visit was even worse. I can't recommend your business, at least not for your baked goods.
