Cedar Rooms Restaruant - Portlaoise

I would like to commend the chefs for an amazing dinner. The menu offered a wide variety of options, including choices for vegans. The desserts were fantastic and the coffee was delicious.

The food at this restaurant always exceeds expectations. It will tantalize your taste buds. I ordered the chicken and the chips were also delicious.

The food was decent with no major issues. The restaurant was peaceful since we went early. The service was quick and we had no complaints. However, we were able to see into the kitchen from our table and we were not pleased to witness someone cleaning the undersides of surfaces with a long-handled tool while cooking was still happening in the same area.

We both ordered stake. The bar was very busy. When the food arrived it was missing the peppercorn sauce and the garlic butter. When asked for it we got only peppercorn sauce..we didn't bother to call the waiter again. My chips arrived like half bowl my boyfriend had a bit more but everyone else was served a full bowl not to mention that there was no crispy onions to be seen on our plates. The plate was cold so the food got cold quick. I had twice stake in this place before and everything was perfect. We finished our meal but all waiters had disappeared. We waited for a while..even when someone appeared they just kept their heads down so nobody wouldn't disturb them. I can understand it was Saturday night after 9 but it is not acceptable. I dont think it was the staff to blame..looked more like the place was understaffed.

Having reviewed this eaterie under the Killeshin hotel (third time not a charm) i astounded myself by going back again. After 3 bad experiences i can only blame myself for going back and cannot realistically blame the hotel. All Ireland football final sunday I decided i would treat myself to a sitdown dinner before working nights. A starter , main course and dessert whilst watching the match. And for some unknown reason i chose the Killeshin hotels bar (knowing it would be quiet) I ordered the soup (leek and potatoe) and the roast lamb. The soup arrived promptly and was nice. I cannot faoult the soup. However, the lamb arrived in good time. It looked amazing. Lots of it on a bed of mash with carrots and broccoli on the side. It really looked good. I tried it and it was good. However the carrots and broccoli were stone cold. Not luke warm, but actually cold. I had to do a double take and check with my fingers. Cold!! then i realised that the mash under the lamb was also cold. just tepid! the gravy was also cold. I was in shock. I was so **** angry that once again i had been dished out cold food in this bar. the plate, gravy, veg and mash were cold. Are the staff in this establishment under the impression that i am averse to hot food or if it is a deliberate ploy on their behalf? I do not know but i can assure them i will NEVER give them the chance to do this to me again.. I refused a change and made the decision to leave and never return
