The two ladies who were running this establishment at the time of our visit came across as quite brusque, but efficient. There was no table service. You placed your order and then they would call from the hatch when your order was ready and you go and collect it. Having said that, the food was quite acceptable and pleasantly presented. My husband had a jacket potato and cheese with a salad and I had a tuna mayo salad. There were a few picnic tables outside on the grassy area a couple with umbrellas.
Lovely location but rather underwhelming staff who appear a little off hand. Despite our return visits there was no acknowledgment nor greetings to regulars visitors alike. Therefore I would not recommend due to their abrupt disposition, we shall not be returning nor putting any more money in their pockets. However, in their favour, the prices are reasonable the small kitchen appears spotless. But they certainly need to learn how to make a proper toastie...I ordered cheese..the bread was toasted but it was filled with cold grated cheese!!!! YUK !!!!
Nicely situated little place close to Southsea sea front with a large area of lawn outside (though I'm not sure that belongs to them as anyone seems to turn up with their own picnic and take the tables). Room inside is very limited and not all that attractive really. Decent chalk board menu and prices, but don't expect waitress service they just shout at you from the serving hatch when your meal is ready to be collected. And you are expected to take your plates and cutlery back afterwards. The staff haven't been to charm school though, so don't expect the place to be any more than it is. If you want more choice there are lots of eating places 10 minutes' walk further into Southsea towards the shops, including several good pubs.
Tea and a Bacon Butty at sensible prices enjoyed outdoors in the sun. Limited indoor seating but plenty of tables and chairs out on the grass.
