Villa Capri Trattoria Wine - Poway

We began our meal with the mixed grilled vegetables, which were perfectly prepared and included zucchini, summer squash, red and green peppers, and mushrooms. Unfortunately, I only managed to snap a picture of the zucchini because we devoured the rest before I remembered to take a photo. My daughter ordered the Penne Elena, which featured grilled salmon served with penne pasta made from gluten-free noodles. She mentioned that the salmon was cooked just right, something I know can sometimes be a hit-or-miss at other places. As you can see, it looked fantastic. My wife opted for the Francesca, which also included penne pasta with salmon, but this dish incorporated the salmon into a blend with asparagus tips, leeks, and a pink tomato sauce. She absolutely loved it. For myself, I chose the evening's ravioli special—basic cheese ravioli with added spinach, served in a delicious basil marinara sauce. The sauce was rich and flavorful, without any trace of acidity, and it was topped with fresh grated Parmesan cheese. Don't hesitate to try the house red wine; it paired beautifully with my meal. It's also worth noting that they offer great gluten-free options, which is always a plus. We will definitely be returning.

I enjoyed a lovely meal at Villa Capri! It's a charming restaurant with delicious food and a great wine selection. I ordered the butternut squash ravioli special, which was really flavorful. There are several other appealing dishes on the menu, so I definitely plan to come back and explore more! Additionally, it's a bonus that they are kid-friendly.

The staff was extremely welcoming. We arrived during peak dining hours without a reservation, but they were able to accommodate us anyway. This was only the beginning of a delightful culinary experience. Every dish we selected was freshly prepared by skilled chefs and served elegantly by attentive staff. We felt like honored guests in someone’s home. What more can I say?

Sal and Oliver were great! We had the artichoke appetizer (garlic! , the Italian salad (lots of good stuff , and the creamy Gorgonzola gnocchi with walnuts. Good size portions on the latter two dishes. We ate out on the patio, and the fresh air waswonderful.

Not sure what all the fuss is about? I am extremely surprised by all the praise for this restaurant? Perhaps it is different when you dine in. The website states traditional Italian food, more like traditional 'American Italian ' food. Either people areextremely hungry and love anything they swallow or not well traveled. As far as my experience goes; I called a take out order.The guy answered and said sure what would you like, oh actually can you please hold. Got back on phone and hung up. I calledagain, asked if I could hold. Another guy picked up and received my order. Fine. My best friend picked up the meal, said theplace was hopping and the atmosphere seemed fun. Nice. Now most importantly the food; The Pollo Parmigiana was basic, the sideof mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a box, and the best part of the dish were the vegetables. The meat lasagnadefinitely had a nice blend of cheese but you would have to search for the meat inside. Finally the gnocchi was decently cookedbut the sauce was common. In fact when it comes to the sauce on all 3 dishes, they all seemed to be watery without any delicioustexture whatsoever. I am quite surprised by all of the reviews claiming how amazing and delicious the food was? I tastednothing but too much salt in every bite and not enough Italian flare, American or otherwise. Having family in Long Island NYand familiar with many cities in Italy and Sicily, this is NOT traditional. My best friend asked the next day if I wanted anyof the leftovers. My response; is that some sort of sick joke?! You want authentic and delicious 'Italian ' food in San Diego,go to The Godfather on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. Trust.
