Very nice place. Many has vegan options like vegan cheese and vegan chorizo. The staff are very friendly. Love it! and it's cheap!
We visited this restaurant at lunchtime on a weekend and it was pretty busy. Obviously a local gem, with a number of regulars in at the time. It's a homely setting, with preserves and take home produce on display (for take home purchases). There is a large range of options on the menu- with some mexican inspired options, and then other options such as curry. I advised that I was vegan and they were excited to accomodate for me with vegan cheese and their own homemade sauces. It's friendly, service is great and food is inspired and obviously made with love.
I started with the nachos, which cost $13.50 for the standard maize chips topped with “cheesy” bean cream, enchilada sauce, and pico de gallo. You can customize them with extra toppings, so I added refried beans, avocado mash, jackfruit, and jalapeños, bringing my total to $23. It sounds a bit pricey for nachos, but it was a massive, satisfying, and well-balanced meal. The flavors lingered on my palate long after I finished eating. I also purchased a container of their mother-based vegan chorizo for cooking at home. I’ll definitely be ordering again to try more of their house-made spices!
We tried the vegan breakfast pastries and the vegan quesadillas (which come in three different varieties), and everything was simply delicious. Juanita's makes their own vegan chorizo and vegan cheese, both of which are outstanding. They also offer their house-made sauces, including the spicy Spirit Blows salsa and the smoky grilling sauce. While I wasn't particularly impressed by the desserts, the savory dishes ranked among the best meals I've ever had!
