Lot of cruises that stop in Progreso go to this place so, if there's a cruise at the dock it might be a full of people but it is a very god option because you can eat good food. I recommend the shrimp pizza.
Signed up for this trip after seeing pics and hearing announcements on carnival cruise to visit the " beautiful panoramic beach" all the food and drinks you want. First off just let me say the people were extreme nice especially our guide Mariana. She was an excellent guide . She told us about the city and the capital Merida and the culture and broke down some of the misconceptions about the crime. She told us about the Myan history which was pretty cool. The beach was very dirty, some of which was not their fault. A tropical storm had just hit the night before. There was trash and glass all over the beach. I don't know if it was only because of the storm or if was always that way. I would think you would want to keep the beach clean at least free of glass and trash? The food was not great. They had homemade chips, runny guacamole ( maybe the way it is in Mexico anyway ? ), quesadillas with cold cheese, a thick fried thing with cheese in it, pizza , tostada with shredded chicken. The unlimited alcohol and drinks were corona only, mixed drinks ( were decent), and sodas ( flat). The vendors hassled the **** out of you , which you expect in Mexico but these were the worst. You could not move without them all in your face. Would not recommend this one especially since we passed a beautiful beach on the bus right out of the port .
Visited this place on Thursday, August 3, 2017, while stopped on the Carnival Triumph. Not a lot of options in Progreso, so we looked at the pictures and decided we would give it a try. First they board you from the port onto a bus. It had AC, so that was nice. Then they go a longer than necessary route and drop you off at a bus terminal. The company name was autoprogreso. You get hustled in the terminal with all the junk peddlers, but their prices are okay. After about an hour at this terminal you get back on a bus and go to Club Silcer, which is visible from the cruise ship and really close. Probably better to take a taxi and avoid the bus package. Once at the place, its not very organized. The beers aren't ice cold but they keep them coming. The food is good, but the wait staff was overwhelmed, so it was easier to walk up and figure out how to get it yourself. They had a nice little band that played most of the time. The kayaks and inflatables were included. The water was nice just a little rocky in the beginning from the beach. The beach is cool and they have a lot of chairs but no umbrellas so you cook pretty good out there. The pool was pretty bad-dirty and murky. Overall it was ok, but this is our second trip to Progreso and we will more than likely try someplace else next time. The bus trip ate up a lot of our in port time.
