We haven't been to this restaurant in several years so I was looking forward to going back. It was just as good as I remembered and the place hasn't changed except they have an English menu now. Hubby and I both had a small bowl...of the pork pozole. Wow! There's so much hominy and pork in the bowl! Just delicious. I also had the manitas (pig's feet). They had the perfect amount of vinegar twang. I will only eat pig's feet here as they are cleaned properly. In total, we had small bowls of pork pozole, pig's feet, beer, large agua fresca, flan and a large order or pork pozole to go. The bill was pesos. That's without tip. Where can you eat all of that food for that price? I love this place. I can't wait to return next year.
The restaurant listing says “Open now” and lists the hours as which I did find curious, until My husband and I were looking forward to having the posole and, at on our last day in PV, paid pesos to take a...cab there from downtown. We were quite surprised to be told by a pleasant woman, through the iron grate, that they did not open until So we paid our cab driver another pesos to take us to Fredy’s Tucan and had a lovely meal there.
We moved here from Santa Fe, New Mexico. We had great New Mexican food there, much spicier than here, mostly because of those amazing New Mexico chiles. In PV the Mexican food is usually rather bland. Finally we found what we were looking for, real...home cooked Mexican food. You know it's going to be good when most of the customers and local Mexican families. On the weekends, they're waiting outside for a table. It's worth the wait. Excellent enchiladas. Tacos that are so flavorful and different from the street stand ones (which can also be great). And the best posole I've ever had. Honestly, it's not always a favorite of mine. But this stands out and is the best I've ever had. It's not all hominy with a little broth. This is a big bowl of broth (chicken or beef and maybe pork) with lots of meat and the perfect amount of hominy. When we are sick, this is the dish we dream about having. Health in a bowl!! It takes the place of the chicken matzo ball soup I always wanted in New York and LA. They only serve beer and soft drinks so grab a margarita some place along the way if you want. It's a little off the beaten path up near the produce market. They don't open until and are only open a few hours. Treat yourself to a meal that will take you back to old Vallarta when it was a little fishing village. Oh, and it is really cheap. Most choices are under
Cenaduria celia is her place for pozol, the filling and tasteful suppe from mais, chiles and meat. it has many interiors, and they may have to wait a few minutes for busy nights, but the turnover is quite fast. pozole is the main feature, but they also offer excellent enchiladas and other dishes. free chips and salsa will appear on the table. the personal is pleasant, eating is always fresh and tasty, and this cenaduria offers a great value for a filling. it's worth a visit!
