After arriving at the other restaurant, we decided after reviewing the menu we would go elsewhere.A few steps away a patron of Restaurante Bar El Cauce "2 Versions" gently coaxed us to try a cucumber margarita. We had never heard of a cucumber margarita and were willing to give it a try. It was delicious and very refreshing. We decided to stay and try the food.We were not disappointed at all. We will be back in PV in 2017 and have every intention of enjoying a meal here again.
This corner restaurant, bar, pool table, and sports television is located kitty corner from Casa Naranja, and west of Chenan 2 Restaurant, both Puerto Vallarta Old Town favorites. If you don't need linen napkins but still have a tasty, plentiful and authentic Mexican meal, stop here. My wife and I were looking for dinner -- nothing special but good, fresh food with pleasant, friendly service. We got it all and for excellent value. First, try the cucumber margarita. It's exceptional. The cucumber cuts the strong tequila flavor, and if you're looking for a rationalization, it qualifies as a health drink. I had their shrimp dinner, which came with a small salad, refried beans and tortillas. Most importantly, the shrimp were large, fresh, many and correctly cooked--not too long. The staff is friendly, speak sufficient English, and are attentive and concerned about their customers. One could say this restaurant is off the beaten track--yes, it's not on the beach nor close to Calles Insurgentes or Ignacio Vallarta, but that's the charm of Old Town. It's not about the beach its surrounds. It's about the community, and it extends east to where the Rio Cuale turns to north-south.
We had never seen this place before but discovered it walking today. Although it was under construction we were able to eat outside. It is very quaint and very reasonably priced! We were blown away with the shrimp burrito and margaritas ... very worth checking out for a casual meal. 2x1 margaritas were 50 pesos and the shrimp burrito was 85 pesos. Very yummy
I am staying a few doors away from her.Passed it afew times a day, reading the menue. Finally stopped in,I really wanted to try a cucumber margarita.I decided on a shrimp burrito and of course my cucumber maggy.Well both were underwhelming!Hey I gave it a try,It was average at best, not a fan!
We found this place by accident yesterday, stopped in and talked to Richie and had a Margarita which was great....wasn't really hungry but wanted to at least try the food....had fish and shrimp tacos and they were some of the best!!!
