A Palmeira - Quarteira

We were recommended to visit this typical Portugese restaurant by a charming couple from Lisbon who were dining at the table next to us in Restaurante Sangria near the fresh fish market in Quarteira . They explained that A Palmeira was an authentic fish...restaurant in the Vila Sol area about 3 km North east of Quarteira We searched for the restaurant for a few days without success as the address on Trip advisor is incorrect. It is not on Estrada Quarteira ,as stated . It is on the R396 road. I am so pleased we didn't give up trying to find it. Finally we asked a local , who told us to head for the Aquawash water park about 3 km. outside Quarteira on the R396 It worked . When we arrived there they were stoking up the huge bbq with coals and wood ready for the lunchtime trade. In the high season it might be a good idea to book a table in high season as it gets very busy. We had a choice of sitting outside on the terrace or inside with air conditioning. As Portugal was experiencing a heatwave we opted for an inside table. The fresh fish was on display and the staff were very helpful in pointing out the various types of fish . We chose the Sea bass and the Sea bream, both priced at a very reasonable 12 euros. The fish was cooked to perfection. Crispy skin on the outside but succulent fish on the inside. The dish came with new potatoes . We ordered a delicious salad of tomatoes which were sweet and sliced onions ,served with a tasty dressing. The 1 litre carafe of white wine , similar to a light vinho verde was amongst the best wine I have tasted here and at only 7.80 euros! Next time we will try the delicious fresh salmon . If you are looking for an authentic Portugese experience this is the place to visit. If you have a GPS head for the Aquashow water park . A Palmeira is on the R396 road about 1 km before the Aquashow park if you are driving from Quarteira .It is also near the Vila Sol Golf course. Tel.number is +351 289 312156 Dont give up if you have difficulty finding it. You won't be disappointed . It is about a 15 minute drive inland from Vale do Lobo or Vilamoura . Would we go back? YES YES YES

The fresh barbecued fish is always guaranteed as well as the lovely mixed salads and of course the wine. It is nice to see the hard working chef hard at work cooking beside the restaurant

This is the example of a restaurant that although is not at all fancy, it serves one of the best food in the Algarve. My favorites are the grilled sardines and the tasty chicken. The price is great for the quality you get! A must...visit.

This place is renowned for fresh fish and it s truly deserve awesome fresh fish at affordable price after 12h30 you have to book don t miss it

Good plage to go if they like grilled fish. there is only one more dish, fry on the menu, but then it is a fish restaurant. we had buzz, makrele, salmon and sardinen huhn and all were very good. served with supplement of cooked potato and salad. small selection of desserts kept the children happy. aside from a lady, the staff could have been a bit kind.
