A great place for prejudice.Want to get discriminated? Come here! Want to feel marginalized? Perfect spot!In all seriousness, this place is unwelcoming or incompetent or both. As asians, we walked in and waited for a server to at least in the minimum to greet us. Absolutely nothing. All we got were blank stares even though there were clearly tables available. And it was racism certainly because the moment we stepped out, conveniently the white couple behind us immediately gets seated. What an absolute joke considering this is a place is a colonized appropriation of East Asian food.
We always loved the Izakaya concept and Honō did a great job keeping the authenticity of it. It might be confusing for those that don't know the concept but you will love it once you understand and have a taste. Everything was wonderful. Similar to Honō Ramen, make sure you reserve a table or you will have to wait. If you're around town, try both of their restaurants. It is literally a door away.
Need to work on service. Got abandoned many times. Dude waiter took over the bad waitress later and was better. Food is edible but not not good. Also, I had to bring my own battery fan to not sweat into my food.
The food is tasty and awesome. I strongly recommend !! I will go back for sure when I'll be back in Quebec city. Service is perfect and friendly. Good atmosphere. A must!!
So many things went awry for this visit. Once they found you don't have a reservation, they become uninterested in seating you, even though there are several empty tables. The restaurant is cramped with poor ventilation for a hot summer day. The food was ok, very fusion-like with strange rice that doesn't seem to fit for the Japanese type of food they are trying to emulate. Food is pricey with small portion sizes. Menu is confusing as the website the waitress directed us to showed they had ramen, however she states they don't serve ramen at this establishment. Menu is only in French even though there was supposed to be English translation. The waitresses who seem uninterested in seating paying customers surprisingly wanted to rush us out of the restaurant, even removing our plates that we hadn't finished eating just to get us out ASAP. If you want a poor experience eating pseudo-Japanese food, be rushed out of a restaurant, and be slapped with a large bill, by all means come to eat at this restaurant.
