Casse-Crepe Breton - Québec

I'm back after several years for a city visit. Breton pancake is one of my places reference to quebec. I haven't been there since I left town. The restaurant is the same. short waiting line. the service is correct and the price is good.

After trying to dine here the first night we were in Quebec and not succeeding too many people, we decided to go for time the next night to eat crêpes. Unfortunately, despite the cute place, the quality of crêpes was really not up to a good creperie. pasta was dry and steep. honest price but much better crêpes eat the day before in a normal bar on the main vis

We went there several times because the have great crepes at affordable prices You can order your crepe choosing the ingredients but the suggestions are very good For salt, try the suggestion that has roast beef and grilled onions and for dessert the maple syrup and sugar

We did not enjoy our visit to Casse-Crepe Breton. They were not busy and we had no problem getting a table and just ordered a couple of dessert crepes as an afternoon treat. My wife's crepe was not what she ordered and had to be returned. She had strawberry/banana with chocolate and I had the simpler Strawberry with whipped cream and chocolate crepe.The stuffings were tasty and ample but the crepes themselves were absurdly tough. At first I thought maybe someone had made a terrible mistake in making the crepe batter but then I noticed that our eating utensils were a fork and a serrated steak knife. Even with this cutting machine I had trouble slicing off bites of the crepe. But they knew they were making a very tough crepe b/c they gave us steak knives. I can't say I'm a crepe expert but those that I have eaten in other countries in the past including in France have been delicate and easily cut without having to saw them repeatedly. We decided this must be how a Canadian crepe is made. This does not work for me.

Good crepes, slow service and uncomfortable booths. Still and all a local flavor and worth a try. Go early or be prepared to wait
