The restaurant is clean and comfortable. The saltenas are good but the rest is okay. We had the shrimp ceviche which could use more flavor. I thought the Bolivian food was okay (we had silpancho and Pique macho) but my Bolivian parents were not fans and thought the plates lacked flavor. This place is still pretty new so hopefully they take these reviews and improve their flavors because this is the only place to get Bolivian food in the city that I know of!
This is a Peruvian Bolivian restaurant, formerly known as Puerta del Sol, it's been totally renovated and it looks very nice and a lot more modern than before, it's under new management, which has kept many items from the old menu. Here you can enjoy the famous and of a kind SALTEÑAS, which are very unique to Bolivia, a salteña leaves all other empanadas in the dust, they are just awesome
The salteñas were decent, but a bit greasy inside. The silpancho was fantastic. The major issue was the extended wait time for our food - it took way too long.
I don't often write reviews, but that meal was one of the best I've had in years. I live in New Jersey and met a friend for dinner who lives in Queens. I would definitely make the trip again just to eat at this restaurant. Cevicheria NYC has a cozy, inviting atmosphere with a beautifully clean environment. The pique macho dish is a must-try! I highly recommend it.
