My dad took me to this vegetarian restaurant for lunch before going to his friend's house. I ordered fresh spring rolls and vegan beef noodle soup. I guess I was pretty hungry so eating those were not enough for me. My dad ordered spicy noodle soup but he didn't like the noodle. Service is good.
Family run business. All vegan. Being a vegetarian I welcome it wholly. Everything on the menu tastes great. I've been with lot of my friends who eat meat and they have all enjoyed it saying that it tastes so good that they don't even feel they are missing the meat. The place is very traditional, no hippe look at all. Noodle soups are delicious. I'll come again :
Veg food, quick and tasty. I came here for lunch a week ago with two co-workers who had eaten here previously and enjoyed it. I asked for a recommendation from the server one of the owners, I believe), but didn't get a helpful answer. I'm not sure she understood the concept, but she was polite enough. I ordered one of the combination plates #2 I think) near the back of the menu: vegan pork and chicken balls, spring rolls, vermicelli. <br/ <br/ As I waited and scoped out our neighbors' plates, I somewhat regretted not ordering the eggplant not the fried one, the other one). It certainly looked good. But my order came quickly and it was delicious. The vegan chicken and pork balls were tasty, with a nice texture. They didn't particularly remind me of pork or chicken, but that's really not important to me anyway. Unfortunately, I forgot what my co-workers ordered, but they enjoyed their food too. For the price, I definitely have no complaints and will come here again when I'm in the neighborhood. Don't be put off by the decor yes, the bathroom could use some updating, maybe moving it somewhere else completely would be in order). It's a nice, unpretentious lunch place. Give it a try.
Worth the wait. On our previous 2 visits here, the food was outstanding. This time around, our experience was the weakest of the three, perhaps due to our menu choices and the time of day 6:00pm on a Saturday. We ended up waiting 55 minutes for service, which we were somewhat prepared for.<br/ <br/ With only 2 staff and limited hours (open until 9:00pm only and closed Sundays , they could clearly justify bringing another person on board to handle the busier periods. But these are 2 women that are passionate about what they do, as evidenced by the posters and the conversion to a vegan only menu. And unlike some niche restaurants, this one doesn't sacrifice on quality. <br/ <br/ The first dish to arrive was the vegetable stir fry. The vegetables were cooked perfectly; however the soy sauce level was a bit high. In future, I would suggest that anyone partial to soy sauce request none and use one of the side sauces they offer instead. (One was the hot chili sauce but I can't recall what the less spicy one is called. Other small quibbles were that the portion was a bit small and a larger variety of vegetables would have been appreciated.<br/ <br/ The other 2 dishes were better. The House Combination soup came in hotpot style. Once the flame made progress, the temperature and ingredients were perfect. They prepare the tofu very well here and we would have preferred more of it in the soup. The broth was very soothing. I wouldn't recommended this as a takeout item though due to the difficulty of reheating it and getting the same taste.<br/ <br/ The other dish was the vermicelli with fried eggless rolls. The rolls were delicious and the noodles combine well with the side sauces. <br/ <br/ Next time, we would probably try a more tofu focused dish and a vietnamese crepe, which looked very appetizing when served at adjacent tables. And we would either go at a less busy time or order takeout well in advance. The service today was abrupt due to the crowd, but this is not reflective of these ladies' work ethic and personalities. The prices continue to be very reasonable $28 and change including tax for our three dishes.<br/ <br/ In spite of the shortcomings today, I will continue to recommend this restaurant. Vegan options are few and far between in the Burnaby/New West area. The taste and selection are strong enough that they have won over, and will continue to win over, many non vegetarian diners.
