A lot of others seemed to be ordering moules and didn't seem to be having any complaints about them. Pizzas were about 11-15€. Staff were pleasant and the setting is good for people watching. A standard kind of restaurant where you know what you're going to get.
I tried to eat in the Cabana restaurant with my 2 children. After waiting for about 15 mins we finally got menus. The waiter was so rude to us when he finally came to take our order (and I speak fluent french so this was not a language problem) we finally decided to leave. We had still not ordered any food or drink and pushed in our chairs behind us. He shouted out after us that we were f......g idiots! My kids were shocked as was I. We went to the Colibri and had a lovely meal with lovely efficient polite staff!!!!
Being born and living in Belgium, one is used to being treated as a real guest when entering a pub or a restaurant. Hospitality and customer friendliness is a normal standard in Begium. This is why Belgians always need to adapt when going to France, where ‘le patron est le roi’, where ‘l’homme alpha’ decides whether you will be served or not and where you will be seated. We typically prepare for the right mindset weeks in advance when going on holidays in France. In Betagne the French are less French than average, ‘les bretons’ know what customer centric behaviour means. That’s one of the main reasons why we’ve been traveling to places like Quiberon and more the South to Ile de Ré in recent years. But... also Bretagne has its immigrants coming from other regions in France apparently. Here’s a real life story I cannot but share... Earlier today at 1:00 PM (right in the middle of the French lunch period, a timing that seldom triggers misplaced arrogance when entering a snackbar) we wanted to grab a quick pizza on the terrace of La Cabane at Quiberon. Plenty of free seats (only 4 or 5 tables were occupied) and no crowd lining up to get a free table. On the contrary even, we were the only fresh ones interested in giving the place a try. My wife kindly adressed the owner. The answer she got ‘un moment’. And gone he was, talking to two elderly ladies near the entrace of the terrace. Ten minutes later Louis (the name I give him because of the Funes-like comedy that follows) was so kind as to pay some attention to us. My wife kindly (she’s more patient and altruistic than I am) asked Louis if we could have a table for 2 and have lunch. “Dans un quart d’heure”, with the hand pointing to the exit of the terrace. Struck by lightning, we couldn’t react. Our eyes must have shown disbelief. Was this a joke? ‘Feefteen meeneets’ Louis rephrased his statement in his best Franglais, and he turned his back on us
The only good thing about this bar is its location (in the main place in Quiberon) other than that the food is below par and it's only worthy of a drink however today the young male waiter embarrassed us by asking us to leave as we only wanted a drink and no food!! Can't quite believe it but there you go!!!
If you look through the window of this restaurant you will see stuffed toys: panthers, lions, giraffes, snakes in a tropical setting. So for my birthday we had to go there. Not being put off by the bad reviews on Trip Advisor, we ventured into the jungle. We were delighted to find a friendly atmosphere, 2 other people celebrating their birthdays, a waitress a little scatter-brained but charming. The pizzas and dessert were delicious and the house wine correct. I would definitely recommend it!
