Radebeul, the Western suburb of Dresden, is famous for its late century architecture and its vineyards on the steep ridges of the Elbe valley. It is, however, not famous for the food with two exceptions: one is the restaurant at the Schloss Wackerbarth...(which I reviewed some months ago) and one this small gourmet place in a nice old house that you can easily oversee at the Western city limits. The food is regional with some interesting aspects of (post)modern cooking: tasty soups based on horse-raddish or basilicum, unusual dishes such as pork cheecks in a pinot noir sauce, a nice choice of dessert (some excellent and typical, some middle-of-the-road that you can find virtually everywhere). A pity that the wine list does not have all good wines of the region (it HAD however a very pleasant Pinot Gris from Schloss Proschwitz which is the only winery that is member in the elite VPW association). The service was slow even for a Saturday evening with all tables occupied. The reason was that the restaurant is also providing catering for private parties and they had announced already at the moment of reservaion that we we would need time), but nearly hour between the starter and the main dish is a bit too much.
Friends of us asked for an evening meal comfortably with a fine and tasty regional kitchen. their choice fell on this hospitable house. they have indicated, lean back and enjoy! individually we have selected our meals and drinks. as the bouillabaisse “Charlotte”. roasted brot and sauce rouille was above, the brewed ochsenbacken with wild garlic risotto were most tempting and a lover of sweets was the crème brûlée with lavender honey and pfefferstreu was excellent to me. the offered primitivo had exactly the taste. only our food experience was reduced by the loud, strong attitudes the next table that disappeared from videogambling from their handys.
From the beaten stretch and twenty minutes from dresdens hektik, this small hotel and restaurant offers hand-cooked regional gourmet food in a rustic environment. the personal is very knowledgeable and friendly, the wine menu is select and well sorted. a very rare combination for. a reasonable price.
We have been here for a celebration and we loved it. From entry to leaving the restaurant it was great. The rooms are nicley decorated. Our music was played from an player and everything was running smoothly. The groupd was over ten persons. The...atmosphere was great the food awesome and to each course the was a new wine recommended. It was local german and foreign wine but perfect to each course. You should try it out. The evening was great. Service food everything had been perfect! Try it out but be sure it is not cheap but worth it!
