I often find that restaurants in little tourist town aren't great, but this place was unbelievable bad. The hour and ten minute long wait time was ridiculous, and the food was bad. My pizza was $23.00 and was poor at best. My sons pizza was awful. The restaurant is also one of the dumpiest dirtiest I've even been in. Never again.
I don't know what just happened. How is it possible that I just paid over $50 for the *worst* dining experience of my life -- and yet somehow I feel SORRY for the man running this place?Oh, right... I'm Canadian, that's how. Ever had that feeling in your gut when you know she should flee but you just ordered the iced teas (arrived in the cans with small disposable cups and no ice) so you feel you cannot leave now?One guy. There is one poor guy doing everything. I think he might also be doing the massive patio renovation taking place on the exterior. However inside he was taking orders, cooking and serving food, settling up people's bills and answering the phone. - There is literally no decor. - The chairs and tables are strewn all over the place.- The unisex bathroom (filthy) opens right into the dining room - just 3 feet from the fridge. No hot water. - Tables are never wiped, he just removes dirty dishes.Sir, you need a woman's touch in your restaurant before the summer rush descends upon you. PLEASE that far wall with furniture covered in **** needs to go. PLEASE get rid of that thing with the old tablecloth on it and put the fridge there. PLEASE wear an apron and have extra clean ones on hand. The grease stains on the front of your shirt made me gag. The brown spots on your jeans were also slightly terrifying. PLEASE wash your hands. Your left thumb nail was so long and what was all that black stuff under there? I don't know what's going on here but grab your sister or your neighbour or some woman who can help you get this place at least CLEAN never mind welcoming. Our food took over an hour to come which you expect with pizza to a certain degree. When it arrived my son's was so dried out and burnt I almost cried for him. He is 5 and was starving so he choked it down. I knew this guy relied on frozen food because there's no way a one man show like this is pounding out chicken breasts for the Cordon Bleu by hand, which was also on the menu along calamari, jalapeño poppers and potato skins. Dead giveaway. But I'm not a snob and I was prepared for that. I ordered Salisbury steak, which I thought would be safe. What I was NOT ready for was a hamburger paddy with a rubbery piece of processed cheese on top, served cold with fries that are lightly spackled in canned mushroom soup. For like $15. I'm not even joking. See the pic I posted and keep moving next time you hit Radium. I know we will.
We stopped in for lunch on our way to the hot springs. We were the only people there (2 adults and 2 kids), and the owner hovered around for what seemed like too much. We had a chat to break the ice and discovered that he is a nice guy (just doing it tough like lots of small business people). The whole pizza from the dough on through is made to order (nothing pre-prepared) so you know it is as fresh as you can get. Our pizzas were loaded with toppings and flavour - just what you want. The owner was the waiter, cook, and cleaner but apparently hires in help during the summer when it is busier. The renovations that are underway (we didn't ask how long for) will be good when complete. All in all a great meal (which we didn't expect when we first walked in).
I ordered a thin crust with 3 toppings. Crust was thin, sauce had no flavor and only received 2 toppings. Bland and awful - a real mistake. Take out order.
