Love food halls and the choices.Had the calabash platter which is the pic as well as steamed oysters. Tasty, however don't expect the same portions you typically get at the seafood restaurant at the Raleigh state farmers market.
Not sure how I haven't reviewed Locals before now it's one of my favorite spots and I'm always bringing new folks here for good food and good cocktails with lovely staff. Haven't had a bad experience yet! You can sit at the bar or get a table weeknights are pretty casual and I've never had to wait for a table. It's a great spot for a date not too too fancy, but nice enough it feels like a night out. Grab your food to go at lunch and eat on the big patio when it's nice out! There's parking in the lot behind the building, but it's often full, so plan for some time to drive the block and find street parking.
I asked today for BIG plate (I was starving), they offered for me Calabash Basket. I’m sorry, but 1 piece of white fish, 3 pieces bread and couple of shrimps, shredded cabbage can not cost 21$. It’s absolutely not big plate, and it’s absolutely not MAIN plate. It’s ok for appetiser. In neighboring cafes you can get BIG plates with raw fish for a better price.
Great food and Great Service! Will definitely come back here! My shrimp was cooked to perfection and so were the fries!!! I didn't even need to add salt to the fries as they add the right amount, nor did I need to dip the shrimp on the sauce. Simply perfect!
Overrated and overpriced. The calabash plate was half a dozen chewy shrimps and a small piece of fish. Then you have to sit at a dirty table because they don't clean up at Transfer. Go to State Farmers Market if you want fried fish.
