María José Peruvian Gourmet

This is the first authentic Peruvian restaurant in the Coachella Valley, located in an abstract shopping center in Rancho Mirage, marked by the sign MJ Gourmet. If you don’t see many cars in the parking lot, don’t be concerned—it’s definitely worth the visit! Whether you’re familiar with Peruvian cuisine or trying it for the first time, you’re in for a delight. The aromas are truly special, and there’s something for everyone on the menu. I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone when ordering; you won't be disappointed. Each dish is beautifully presented, and the ingredients are incredibly fresh. The owner and staff are very attentive, though the service can be a bit slow; however, the wait is certainly worthwhile. Make sure to make reservations, as the space is small and intimate, yet simply and tastefully decorated. They also have a nice little bar for those who need to wait. Get ready for a real treat. The food was incredible, the host (who I believe is the owner) was fantastic, and our server was lovely as well. We tried the Lomo Saltado and the salmon court, and each dish was excellent, especially the sauces. It’s wonderful to have such an authentic and highly regarded Peruvian restaurant in the area. I highly recommend Maria Jose's!

The food was outstanding, and the staff was both friendly and well-informed. Since this is a relatively new restaurant, Maria Jose is very receptive to feedback and is dedicated to ensuring that every guest has a delightful experience.

Our 1st time having Peruvian good Great tastes. Waiters were very helpful explaining the different dishes. The owner Maria Jose comes to each table to make sure everything is OK. Will be back
