The service was prompt, very friendly in clean surroundings overlooking the river, Our order developed into 2 breasts of chicken and chips with two Cokes, The chicken was cooked just right and the breasts were of a generous size, with plenty of accompanying chips. A substantial meal for less than €20. Well worth stopping here.
This is a little gem in avoca village . It’s a great restaurant and takeaway with simple comfort food at a great price . I’ve eaten here since I was a child and can’t fault the food or service
After enjoying a great morning in Glendalough, we continued our journey south and stopped by Avoca in search of some delicious fish and chips. We found our way to Ms. Hendley's humble shop, where we watched her prepare fresh cod fillets by dipping them in batter and frying them to perfection. The hot, fresh, and incredibly tasty fish and chips made for a satisfying lunch, definitely worth the drive if you're in the area. One of us opted for a salad instead of the hand-cut chips, but it was nothing special compared to the sublime chips. Overall, a great value for a memorable lunch experience.
I never would have expected to enjoy a meal at the back of Kathleen's store, but I was pleasantly surprised. The fish and chips were delicious and freshly made, and it's clear that they have a strong reputation judging by the number of locals picking up takeout. Despite being very busy, the lady running the place still made an effort to chat and was incredibly friendly.
Got a bag of chips here today when I was on my lunch and they were lovely and fresh. Tasty and the staff were nice so that's a bonus. There's a nice little shop with lots in it too close to the cafe.
