The Historic Ice House - Raton

For lunch on the way to frisco co. great eating, cold beer and great owner recommended.

The Historic Ice House is a site to behold. Indoor and out it has lots of memorabilia to set the atmsophere. The service was friendly and fast, the lemonade had virtually no sweetness, the hamburger was excellent, the french fries merely warm and way too limp. I'll give it another try and have the BBQ they are famous for in order to give them a more rounded review.

Had a hamburger the first night and a pulled pork sandwich the second night. Both meals were pretty good with the exception of the french fries. I requested crispy fries both times. The second time I was clear on my displeasure on the fries on the previous nights experience. Evidently the cooks can't read or don't care as both meals were served with undercooked fries. Other than the fries, everything else was real good.

The okra was amazing. The brisket was solid, but expected a bigger portion. 3-4 slices instead of 2 for $18 would have been a better value. Good nonetheless. Service was excellent.

Disappointed on this takeout order. Asked for ribs and sliced brisket. Ribs not available on a Saturday afternoon. Got chopped brisket (small amount) instead on combo order with fried okra and sweet potato for $19. Used to be great place for BBQ in Raton. No longer the case. Only open Thur thru Sat. No longer can recommend. Stick to ordering hamburgers from there now. Too bad for Raton customers.
