I ordered several different flavors with a milk tea. When I had first bite, I felt like it just got out from freezer or stayed out for too long. The icing was dry but the bread was damp, not chewy. Even fruity pebble on top was not crunchy at all. I came during lunchtime, so I assume they made donuts the same day. I was very disappointed I was expecting more chewy, fresh warm donuts...
Adorable bakery stall tucked in the corner of K Market's food hall featuring mochi donuts, macaroons, and croffles in a variety of flavors! Starting with their namesake, the mochi donuts are certainly chewy and have the delightfully springy, QQ texture that makes these donuts so special. They have a ton of flavors, but my favorites have to be the black sesame and yogurt. Although the black sesame frosting is a touch on the sweeter side, it's packed with a ton of black sesame flavor. They also sprinkled on a few full sesame seeds for a bit of texture, visual interest, and extra nuttiness. The yogurt mochi donut is also delicious the slightly tangy yogurt helps to balance out the sweetness of the donut frosting. It's an otherwise pretty simple donut, so it's perfect for when you're looking for a simpler, cleaner flavor profile that still has a bit of a twist. We also tried their matcha, ube, and churro flavors, which were tasty but didn't stand out quite as much as the others. The matcha was a bit too sweet, the ube was lacking in ube flavor, and the churro only had a hint of cinnamon. Even so, all of their mochi donuts were phenomenal they achieved the perfect texture (and I'm sure they'll be even better when fresh and warm), and they're not overly sweet. We haven't had a chance to try their croffles yet, but I'm not a huge fan of their macaroons there's a bit too much filling, and they don't have a ton of flavor, so it ends up feeling a bit plain. After our success with their black sesame donut, I decided to give their black sesame macaroon a shot, but it didn't have the same nuttiness as the donut version. All in all, delightful stall if you're looking for a sweet treat as you wander the aisles of K Market! I love their mochi donuts, but will probably skip the macaroons next time.
The Croffles, specifically the Banana Nut and Cream Brulee, are to die for! I'm not a fan of mochi donuts in general but the Red Velvet and Lotus Biscoff are good for when I am in the mood. I always accompany the sweets with an iced Dalgona Coffee. Give it a try after some hot pot at Gom Shabu Shabu!
We've been here maybe three or more times. The kids and wife normally like to grab a dozen of doughnuts while I grab a drink. The workers aren't too bad, got the order wrong on the drink. The location is in the corner of the cafe. The food drinks and doughnuts are better than what we have back home for sure. The doughnuts are much doughier and taste better too. Pretty clean tables and hidden gem for sure.
Staffs are nice and friendly and mochi donuts are freshly made throughout the day! Best mochi donut place in the area
