These are the types of establishments you visit when you're feeling lazy and crave something fast and affordable. They may not strive to be anything more, but that's okay. I still enjoy Mr Cod for what it is.
I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant, especially as someone who appreciates good food. My wife's cod was disappointing, with spongy batter and a taste of old fish that might have been frozen for too long. The chips were chewy and seemed like they could have been freezer chips. I had the Marsala fish, hoping for a crispy batter and juicy interior, but instead, it tasted like it had freezer burn. The chips were also not up to par. I tried to eat some out of hunger, but my body rejected it. I will not be returning to this restaurant, as I am surprised it is still in business. Maybe their fried chicken burgers are better, but if you're looking for great British fish and chips, look elsewhere. Sorry to the owners, but this was a truly disappointing experience. I could make better food at home for half the price. The service was pleasant, but I was really here for the fish and chips.
Fast food no waiting for orders to be cooked ect, always nice and the food is yumm and fair prices for what you expect to have
We have purchased fish and chips from Mr. Cod several times and on each occasion it has been fresh and a large amount. Good value for money
Called in for fish and chips, on way home from a day out, wish we hadn't bothered, batter was terrible, like rubber, fish was dry and had a funny texture, chips were just warm, and soggy, i love fish and chips, but probably the worst...i have had.
