Even if I weren't a celiac, I would have found this strange, considering my friend’s garlic bread was on the plate. I returned it to the counter, but the staff member advised me to just remove it and didn't grasp the concept of cross-contamination at all. He eventually called a manager, who took the plate away, but I suspect I still received the same chicken that had touched the garlic bread because I became ill afterwards. On my second visit, I got sick again. As I was leaving, I observed the grill cook mixing chicken and bread on the grill while using the same utensils. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience at Nando's.
During my first visit, my friend and I ordered our meals separately, but our food was brought out together on one plate, which struck me as odd, especially given my dietary restrictions. My friend's garlic bread was on the same plate, so I sent it back, but the staff seemed confused about cross-contamination. A manager was called to address the situation, but I suspect that the chicken I received came into contact with the garlic bread, as I ended up getting sick afterward. My second visit was just as disappointing; I once again experienced illness. As I left, I noticed the grill cook mixing chicken and bread on the grill and using the same utensils, which is a huge red flag. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience at Nando's.
