If I could give negative stars I would. I was here for business and will be providing feedback to my company with an ask to remove this hotel from the business lodging options. Background: After working a 14 +hour day, I went to order room service on Tuesday night only to find my phone had a dial tone that sent a busy signal regardless of what #s I pressed or which lines I chose. Jet lagged and exhausted, I ate protein bar and jerkey for dinner. I informed the front desk staff on Wednesday morning as I headed out, with a promise to have it fixed that day. That evening, I went to order room service a second time only to find my phone just didn 't work. After checking all the chords and plugs, it was dead. I grabbed my laptop and phone and headed downstairs for dinner. I was sat in the lounge/restaurant area, and placed my order after a few minutes. I noticed that they were short staffed and observed a guy next to me trying to grab the waitstaff 's attention to place his dinner order. When they came back to ask how my beer was (which it was disgusting and tasted like soap but didn 't tell them that), I asked for water and directed them to the table next to me so the guy could order dinner. I was on my laptop working, while still observing the comings and goings of the restaurant. I noticed that people who sat down well after me was getting their drinks and food before I was, so I politely flagged the waitstaff again and kindly asked for an update on my meal. I was told they were short staffed and that it would be coming shortly. I patiently waited and 15 mins later asked again for an update, only to be told that it was coming. Now it had been an hour that I was sitting there with a warm beer, some tap water, and no food. The last straw fell when two women came in well after me, placed a 3rd round of drinks along with their dinner and got their meal 10 mins later. The table of two guys next to them also placed their dinner well after me, but received their dinner around the same time the two women did. It was not beyond me that I was the only asian female in the entire place. All other patrons were white and were being waited on hand and foot while they read, worked, or chatted with their friends and colleagues. I finally stood up and flagged the waitstaff down, while standing asked for my dinner to be placed in a to-go box and delivered to my room. She again told me that they were short staffed and that it was coming. In that moment, I told her that I was waiting for over an hour while everyone in this entire place had already gotten their food but had sat down well AFTER I did. She came back out a few mins later with my fish and chips on a platter and asked me to sit down. I informed her I had been sitting for over an hour and that I would like my meal to-go. Shesighed, left, and came back with my dinner on a huge room service tray. The latter prompted snickers from the 6 top, who wanted to see me carry the tray with my computer upstairs. I looked at the waitress and told her I wasn 't carrying that upstairs and again asked for it to be in box. She told me they didn 't have any and it would have to be on a tray. At this point the entire lounge is uncomfortable and staring at us. My arms are full and I refuse to take the tray up to my room. Unsure of what to do the waitress walks to the front desk manager to ask for help while pointing at me. I politely walk up to both of them and inform that I 'm not going to make a scene, however I will provide them feedback. I inform them of my observations and that I 'm being treated differently because of my race. They both get defensive but can 't answer my question of why is my dinner out last when I was the first to be seated, regardless of being short staffed? I tell them that food service is always first in and first out and that should have been the case with my dinner. Angela, the manager apologies profusely and tells me they will deliver my food to my room. Time from start to finish of getting my dinner was over 90 mins. It 's well after 9:30 by the time I start to eat my dinner of fish and chips. The next morning I walk to the front desk to check out. There are three front desk staff, to the left of me is a man, a woman at the center computer, and another woman to the right of me. The British man checking out at the same time I am, walks up to the woman on our right. I proceed straight ahead to the other woman who is dead center of me and greet her with a smile and a request to check out. The woman looks straight at me, doesn 't acknowledge me or smile, turns on her heels and walks away, pretending to be busy with something at the bar. Her male colleague is bewildered doesn 't know what to say or do, slides over to her computer console and asks to help me. The poor guy trying to offer service, but not reading the room, asks me how my stay was, to which I promptly tell him it was horrible. I then ask him, why his female colleague just ignored me and walked away when I greeted her and asked to check out. He couldn 't answer me and his colleague who know she did something wrong doesn 't know what to do other than pace behind him doing nothing. He was the only decent human being trying to do his job at this hotel. I have traveled throughout Europe for years, and have never been treated this poorly. Racism exists here and is blatantly obvious. I 'm appalled that tech companies have their staff lodge here! The next time I 'm here for a work trip, I most certainly am not staying at this hotel and will providing this feedback to my company as well. This is not the values or standards of my company and am sure they don 't want to be supporting a hotel that endorses and treats their employees like this.
Very quiet rooms, comfortable beds. The 3pm check-out on a Sunday afternoon is the best I've ever had. Thank you very much.
Was a very good quality of food, but it was very expensive and very quiet. At 6pm we were the only people there.
I stayed for one night, as I was visiting a friend in reading. It was everything I needed. Clean, low priced and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast spread is very nicely presented with lots of fresh bread, spreads, cereals and Various milks. The English breakfast looked nice but I didn’t have any. And a fruit selection. My friend is looking for places to recommend for her upcoming wedding guest and she will be recommending this hotel.
