I had the French Dip, which was served on the most deliciously crunchy bread, generously filled with roast beef and topped with melted Swiss cheese. And to top it off, I had a blueberry citron sugar cookie that was fresh out of the oven—absolutely divine! You should definitely check this place out; it's conveniently located at the Galleria on Bridge Avenue.
While the café still retains a similar look, the only Danish pastry they had on offer was... a danish. (Which, by the way, isn't even truly Danish, but that's a minor detail.) The æbleskivers, which are delightful little donut holes served with strawberry sauce, and the array of authentic pastries that used to fill the pastry case are no longer available. I ordered an open-faced sandwich with egg and tomato but was left waiting for about 15 minutes for what should have been a simple dish: just some mediocre dark rye bread, an egg, and a tomato on a plate. Seriously? When I requested a smørrebrød, as it's listed on the menu, I was met with a blank stare, which I didn't mind. But when I inquired if they were still connected to the original ownership, the cashier mentioned they were moving away from the Danish concept. Uh, okay... It's not a bad café, really. They offer cookies, brownies, sandwiches, coffee, and tea, all in a pleasant atmosphere. However, if you're looking for anything Danish, you won't find it here anymore. It’s now fully American.
The Banana Chocolate Chip cake was fantastic! It was incredibly moist, with a distinct banana flavor that made me think the recipe included a generous amount of banana, contributing to its soft texture and bold taste. The chocolate chips were plentiful and more like chunks, which added a lovely taste as well. The Cheese Danish was equally delightful. The pastry shell was very crisp (producing a satisfying crackle when I cut into it), multi-layered, and full of rich buttery flavor. The cheese filling had the perfect balance of tartness, a hint of cheesy funkiness, and a smooth custard-like texture—absolutely spot on! I do want to mention that the service was somewhat slow. It seemed the computerized POS ordering system was malfunctioning, and with only two staff members who appeared a bit disorganized, it took us about 7-8 minutes to place our order, even though we were second in line.
Cafe located inside the Galleria shops, which serves up Danish inspired breakfast and lunch. Decor is industrial with a coffee bar and takeout counter in one room and good sized dining room adjacent to it. I had take out and really enjoyed the food today! Ordered egg and bacon sandwich on multigrain roll and the Chicken Douglas sandwich to eat later. And, of course I also ordered a sweet treat from their bakery selection, a cheese danish. Everything was very yummy. I loved how the eggs of my egg sandwich was very fluffy and light and sandwich had good flavor. Bacon was perfect in that it was still soft instead of crispy. The Chicken Douglas was very delicious as well. The curry mayo and pineapple had a great flavor profile and went well with the grilled chicken breast on a multigrain bread. The sandwiches can come on white bread or croissant if so desired. The cheese danish was awesome! it was flakey and rich. At first I was confused where the cafe was located. I wandered around before I found it. The directory want helpful. It's located in the building called galleria shops, next to the melting pot, on the first level. Next time I come, I want to try one of their open faced sandwiches and other bakery items. If you're visiting an office or shopping in the area, stop by and have lunch or breakfast here! You won't be disappointed!
Quaint café, located in the farmers market, with plenty of seating and FREE wifi! My husband and I stopped here for brunch on our way out of town. I totally enjoyed one of their famous Danish open faced sandwiches on Rye bread Eggs and tomatoes with mayo and chives. It wasn 't oozing with mayo which was a good thing! I actually felt like I was eating something healthy! My husband ordered the make your own salad topped with grilled chicken and the house dressing all stuffed inside their homemade pita bread. He wasn 't as impressed as I was and left most of it on the plate. He did enjoy the order of aebleskiver (pancake balls sprinkled with powdered sugar served with jam). The price is right for a quick brunch or bite on the run for sure!
