Hubby loved the tangy chive and yoghurt sauce that came with it. Not sure about the plating; not a fan of big white plates myself. I wasn't such a fan of the tempura veg. I found the batter floury and therefore a bit unpleasant. It needed a few seconds more in the deep fryer. Hubby didn't mind it. Both of us love onion rings. Who doesn't, my friends? These were great. Beer-battered, crisp outside, soft inside. House-made chilli jam went down well. The karaage were crispy, tender little morsels of chicken, and were delicious. The mayo was eaten with gusto by hubby. It was like popcorn chicken, just small morsels, which added to the charm. Dinner was not so good. Maybe the lack of ambience due to no customers? Also the food simply was not as good as our lunch. I chose coq au vin, which according to the menu was "classic". For me, classic coq au vin never has tomato in it, especially not tomato paste or purée. I am not a tomato fan, so this was doubly troubling to me. I expected a chicken dish, full of the flavours of red wine and mushrooms. I was sadly disappointed by this very "unclassic", and not very interesting dish. I fear the purée was from a bottle; oh dear. Red cabbage and potato chunks didn't add much to it. I left a fair whack of this dish on the plate. Our mate Princess Pia and Mr P. chose burgers for mains. Hubby enjoyed his burger, and said there was nothing wrong with it. Wagyu beef, caramelised onion, chilli jam, aioli, beer battered fries - what's not to love? Princess Pia enjoyed her burger too. Sweet potato crisps were delicious (I snuck some). Cajun crumbed chicken breast with lettuce and tomato was a safe choice. Nothing to offend here. So, to conclude, our meals were okay; great if you were Mr P. A couple of glasses of Prosecco each helped me and the Princess cope with the cold, while hubby scoffed down his usual ginger beer. You can book online which is handy; they do functions and events; and have live music on weekends. Head down on a Sunday arvo for a drink and tapas is my recommendation.
The owner is wonderful, every time we visit he comes for a chat & makes you feel very welcome, he is genuinely interested in making sure you enjoy your visit & the food.We usually have our little dog with us at Redcliffe & it's nice to know that we will be welcomed at Brick with her too & not refused service as so many of the other places do on the front at Redcliffe & use the excuse that it's Council Regulations when in fact it is the owners choice & there are no Council Regulations preventing dogs being with you. Thanks to all at Brick for your great service & very good food. We certainly enjoy visiting.
Visited BRICK BISTRO BAR again at the weekend with my wife & little dog, again, as always we were warmly welcomed & chatted to by the staff & owner.Enjoyed the specials on the board & the food was excellent. The owner is doing a great job with this little place, offering great service & great quality food. We'll be back again soon.
This is a great place to do share plates of Tapas with friends. We were a party of 4 for lunch and tried about 7 dishes to share between us. All were very nice however I thought the short ribs were lacking a little in a flavour punch. The highlight for me was the meatballs! They were absolutely superb, lots of flavour and a dash of spice. Would highly recommend this place for lunch with friends. With the beachfront across the road, it is very relaxing.
Great customer service from your international waitress - she was very help with the menu and selection on meals. Really enjoyed the rice balls and gnocchi. First time visitor and would visit again if in the area.
