They are actively making improvements to both the building and the menu. While they weren't able to acquire the original 'Gene's' recipes, they are doing a great job of creating new dishes that complement the old favorites. The 'Let There Be Bacon' burger is absolutely delicious, and the peanut butter shake is definitely worth a visit on its own! The traditional classic car night on Thursdays is still happening—perhaps not as many cars as before, but with the food getting better, I'm hopeful that the classics will return in full force.
Tater Tots. You absolutely need to try them. If you're more in the mood for onion rings, that's also a great choice! On a hot day, be sure to order their gigantic soft serve ice cream cone—it’s truly enormous! I’m talking about a cone that must have been at least a foot tall, not including the cone itself. This place has a lot of Redding history and is truly wonderful.
Gene's is a wonderful throwback to the way things used to be, and I’m really grateful that they’re still around. The prices are quite reasonable, and the food is fantastic. A Micah burger outshines a damn burger any day!
Gene's drive-thru is one of the iconic drive-thrus has been in Redding since the early 60s still serving the same quality of food real hand-cut fries deep fried mushrooms and the gene Burger has a sweet Tangy delicious taste it's hard to forget
This burger joint has been at this location for practically ever. They make a good burger. I do wish I could have tasted what their burger was like when they originally opened.
