Janya's Thai Cuisine - Redding

I recently dined at this restaurant and was impressed by their vegan options. The vegan pumpkin curry was phenomenal, the vegan pad see ew was very good, and the vegan house pad Thai was also very good. The garlic tofu was good, but could have been more flavorful with more garlic, salt, and oil. The portions were large and there were an incredible amount of vegan options, although not all items were vegan by default. The menu was well labeled to indicate which dishes could be made vegan. I appreciated the entire section dedicated to vegan tofu dishes. I hope to see even more of the menu become vegan or vegan by default in the future. The restaurant staff is well-versed in serving vegan dishes and are eager to accommodate your preferences when you mention it to them. Many of the menu items can be prepared as vegan options, with or without tofu.

If you are in Redding with a group of friends who enjoy meat, this restaurant is a decent option. I tried the yellow curry from the vegetarian section of the menu and it was mainly vegetables in a broth with not much flavor. I ordered it medium spicy, but there was no distinct taste other than the heat. My friend had the spring rolls, which looked appetizing. I would consider getting those or the fried tofu next time. Overall, I did not find my meal to be worth the price.

I ordered the tofu laab and a red curry. Both dishes were fantastic. The curries don't contain fish sauce and have a veg option that's vegan, and the other dishes can be made without fish sauce and with tofu. Yum
