Feedback gevenA few weeks ago 18 of us turned up for a get together - was supposed to be booked but somehow the booking was not made. This didn't faze the staff and we were served well and reasonably quickly
Firstly yes this is located in the heart of Wellington Point and like all the other restaurants it's alfresco location is on the footpath facing the road... if you have a problem with those two elements like some previous reviewers well don't go there then.In saying that i have had Thai all over the world and this was amazing. The coconut prawns are incredible along with the variety of curries we also ordered. The serves are large and we had ample between 4 of us to take a reasonable amount of each dish also home.Friendly staff, easy car parking, look forward to returning.
We started with Satay Chicken skewers which as usual are just amazing. There was six of us so we ordered coconut rice for all and we all chose a dish. We had chicken with cashew nut, beef musaman, chicken pad thai noodles to just name a few. All were delicious. The service is usually excellent but the night we were there this time they were very busy and only one girl was doing all the orders and table service - so was slower than usual - but saying this she did and excellent job on her own
On Main St wellington Point. Been twice now, both times were not great. The food had little flavour. The prawns tasted like detergent, the beef had all its fat left on, the service was also shocking. I asked for a veg stir fry but as the previous time I went it came out cold I asked if it could be served on a Sizzle Plate (Hot plate), they said no... whats the difference, it is just a plate???My friend asked for a coke (3 times she asked) during the wait the table near us who came in well after we did got their cokes. Then the next time my friend asked for her coke they said they dont have any left!!! THERE IS AN IGA DOWN THE STREET, GET SOME!!! What kind of restaurant has no Coke on a Friday night!!! Only 1 out of our party of 9 thought it was ok, the rest said not again. On the plus side it is in a lovely location... but Thai River is just down the road and a million times fresher and nicer!
The address given is misleading as the restaurant is at Wellington Point but well worth the effort of driving the short distance to go there. Main Street is lined with poinciana trees which were in full bloom when we were there and they added to the village atmosphere we experienced. My wife and I both enjoyed the mixed entrees before tucking in to the generous and tasty mains. My sizzling seafood was exactly what it claimed to be, hot and sizzling ( also very tasty ) while my wife'sThai karee sauce stir fry with chicken was equally as good.Service was prompt and friendly - certainly no cause for complaint there. We sat out on the footpath with a cool breeze blowing as the sun set and luxuriated at the end of the day.As the restaurant is not licensed it could be worth taking your own wine etc, although there is a bottle shop in the hotel on the corner.
