Martha Green's The Eating Room

The breakfast was fantastic. I ordered the "Big Deal" breakfast sandwich and upgraded it to a croissant. My dad had the corned beef hash, which was just as crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

The waitress took a bit longer than expected (around 10-15 minutes) to take our order, but she apologized for the delay and we didn’t mind since we weren’t in a rush. As a nice touch, they brought us some buttered bread, which I appreciated. However, when the waitress returned to check on our food, she mentioned that the bread had been served to us by mistake and that we hadn’t actually ordered it. She seemed visibly irritated, which made me feel bad because I thought it was a complimentary offering. Her demeanor was disappointing; it felt unprofessional and unexpected for our first experience. When she came back with the bill, she just dropped it on the table without a word and left. It was as if we had personally offended her. She didn’t ask if we needed anything else or if we enjoyed our meal, which is something most waitstaff would do at the very least. While I hope this isn’t representative of all the staff at this restaurant, I can't say I'll be returning to find out.

The food was just average and the servers were good. There is just not enough of them to deal with the number of people in the restaurant. So expect a wait to place your order, but the food comes quickly.

This is a fantastic spot for breakfast or lunch, offering a wide range of American dishes that feel almost homemade! In my update from March 2022, I mentioned that the dining experience was consistently excellent, with great meals and service at reasonable prices. However, my most recent visit on December 20, 2023, was quite disappointing. The food was just average, and the service was the worst part of the experience—definitely one of the poorest we've had at any restaurant. Because of this, we won’t be returning for some time.

It's really hard to go wrong when you eat here. The food is always really good. If you're not from the area, this is definitely with the effort. Make sure you stop by the bakery for to-go treats!
